How It Works
Planning
When I am asked to help a family at a funeral, the first thing I will do is make contact with the family via telephone to arrange a face-to-face meeting. During this initial contact I will give you an overview, some ideas and things to be thinking about ahead of our meeting. This will include, thinking of lovely stories that show your loved one as they were, identifying any music, poems or readings you may want and deciding if any friends or relatives wish to speak at the Service.
At the meeting I will get to know your loved one through your stories and memories and we will also discuss the detailed Order of Service and any other requirements you may have for the service, or the day.
I will liaise with the Funeral Directors so they are fully aware of all your choices and wishes.
After our meeting I will draft what is often called the Eulogy or the Tribute and I will send that to you to read through ahead of time. This allows any corrections or additions to be made but also for you to let me know if there is anything else you may have thought of.
The Service
On the actual day, I will meet you at the Crematorium and will run the Service for you. If any of your family and friends are speaking at the Service, I will run through this with them to help them be as much at ease as possible. My role, along with that of the Funeral Director, is to make the funeral run smoothly so that you do not have to worry about anything and can focus on yourselves.
Other Services
I have a wide range of poems and common readings that I can send you if you wish. This can be done by email during the planning period.
Also,as a professional musician (Guitar and Vocals), I can offer to play and sing one of your chosen pieces of music acoustically. Some people like the feeling of comfort that a song performed live and intimately can provide. Please just ask.
